ROCKWALL, TX (June 22, 2026) — The Rockwall County Library will host a powerful and moving art exhibit this fall featuring the work of Holocaust survivor and artist Sofia Davidson. On display from Aug. 13 through Oct. 14, 2026, the exhibit offers visitors a unique visual journey through life before, during, and after the Holocaust.
Presented in partnership with the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Commission, the collection features paintings by Davidson, a Polish Jewish artist who survived World War II after fleeing Poland and spending years in hiding and as a refugee with her family.
The Sofia Davidson Collection is funded and made possible by the Goldrich Family Foundation and is being shared with communities across Texas through the commission’s educational outreach efforts.
Davidson’s artwork provides a deeply personal perspective on the Holocaust and its lasting impact on survivors. Her paintings depict Jewish life before the war, the hardships and trauma endured during the Holocaust, and the challenges of rebuilding life in its aftermath. Together, the works offer a powerful reflection on resilience, memory, and the enduring human impact of one of history’s darkest chapters.

Community Invited to Attend Exhibit Opening
To mark the opening of the exhibit, the Rockwall County Library will host a special reception and presentation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13.
The first hour of the event, from 6 to 7 p.m., will be available by free registration only, with attendance limited on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration details will be announced at a later date. From 7 to 8 p.m., the reception will be open to the public with no registration required.
“We are honored to bring this important exhibit to Rockwall County,” said Tenille Miller, Children’s Librarian at Rockwall County Library. “The artwork offers a powerful opportunity for reflection, education, and remembrance while helping preserve the stories of those who lived through one of history’s darkest chapters.”
Community members are invited to learn more about Davidson’s story and explore the collection during the opening reception. Residents are also encouraged to visit the exhibit throughout its two-month stay and reflect on the lessons of history through Davidson’s extraordinary artwork.
