Fate names post office after former U.S. Congressman Ralph Hall

FATE, TX – Aug. 2, 2021 — Last week, the City of Fate celebrated the dedication of its post office located at 909 West Holiday Drive as the Ralph Hall Post Office in honor of the former U.S. Congressman and Fate native.

Representatives of the U.S. Postal Service joined City of Fate officials and the family of Hall at Fate City Hall last Friday for a special dedication ceremony. A plaque recognizing the naming of the Ralph Hall Post Office was unveiled and given to the Hall family. Kathey Corner with U.S. Senator John Cornyn’s Office presented a letter from Sen. Cornyn commemorating the occasion, while Virginia Hannan with U.S. Congressman Pat Fallon’s Office also presented a U.S. flag for the Hall family.

“This means so much to all of us. It helps us remember him, but we never forget about him. He’s left a mark, and it means so much to me and to my family,” said District 382 Judge Brett Hall, son of Ralph Hall.

Ralph Hall was born on May 3, 1923, in Fate, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Rockwall County. He dedicated his life to serving the county of Rockwall in a number of capacities, including as county judge. He was also a member of the group that founded the Rockwall Memorial Youth Center in 1956, which would later become the Rockwall YMCA. In his 30+ years in politics, Hall served as both a Democrat and Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives and was known as the oldest ever member to have served in Congress.
