ROCKWALL, TX – October 4, 2021 — FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team Half Metal Jackets (HMJ) are partnering with Empower 7 in their Project Self-Esteem drive to collect items for teens in need.
Half Metal Jackets are the 1st & only FTC team in Rockwall County. Our team is made up of 7th and 8th graders who compete in FTC competitions around the DFW area. In addition to robotics, the team volunteers in their community to continue to make Rockwall County a great place.
Empower 7 is a non-profit organization based in Rockwall County that helps teens in need. Many teens today often do not have the simplest of everyday hygiene products necessary for positive self-image & self-esteem. Empower 7 spoke to our robotics team about teens in need and we learned that we could help students that might be in our own classroom. We decided we wanted to help.
To help make a difference in the lives of teens in Rockwall County, please donate these full-sized items: Bar Soap, Washcloth, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, shampoo, and comb or brush. We will be collecting these products every Sunday in October at Rockwall Makerspace, 2010 Industrial Blvd #602 from 1:30-5pm.
By the end of October, we hope to have enough products to create 200 bags for Empower 7.
