ROCKWALL, TX – November 11, 2021 — The Rockwall Rotary held its last event ever in the old Rotary Hall building at 408 S Goliad St. yesterday, as the organization looks forward to a new remodel of the entire facility.
Rotarians welcomed city officials and community members to celebrate the beginning of the remodel project with a Fall Mixer social event. Members took turns taking a sledgehammer to a wall of the Rotary Hall building- a symbolic beginning of the remodel which will bring a beautiful, brand new facility for the club.
Rockwall Rotary President Kevin Pate led those in attendance with a toast in honor of the facility which has served the club for decades, and the newly remodeled building to come.
“We celebrate all of the great things that have happened in this room, all the great decisions that have been made and all the ways that has impacted our community,” Pate said. “We celebrate all of the people who have been apart of this over the years, this new building and all of ways we can be a blessing to this organization and the community.”
North Texas-based commercial construction firm Z Constructors will head the remodel for the new Rotary Hall building. Renovation will begin on Monday, Nov. 8.
“We’ve worked very hard, and I couldn’t have done it without my board and our members,” said Stan Lowrance, who has been a Rotarian for the past 38 years and was a part of the purchase and construction of the original Rotary building. “We have a lot to thank with Matt Zahm and Z Constructors. They have worked with us so diligently in getting this thing together.”
The Rockwall Rotary will temporarily hold its weekly meetings at Divine Peace Church (306 S. Fannin St.) during construction.
