Rockwall, TX (February 15, 2024) – On January 19th, Terri Rust with the Rockwall County Clerk’s office placed her own safety at risk to help a stranger in obvious danger.
Returning to the courthouse following lunch, Terri witnessed a woman being followed by a slow-moving vehicle. She continued to watch as the woman began to walk towards the Rockwall County Detention Center. It was then that the male subject exited the car and began to push the woman into the vehicle. As the woman tried to get away, he repeatedly shoved her back inside.
Terri immediately took action to intervene, preventing the suspect from getting away. Due to her swift action, law enforcement officers were able to apprehend the suspect, who is the spouse of the victim.
Terri was recognized this week at the Rockwall County Commissioners Court for her courageous action because of her simply being aware of what was happening around her.
“To say that I am proud is an understatement” says Jennifer Fogg, Rockwall County Clerk. “I am so glad that my employee was there because she could have saved a life that day.”
The suspect has been charged but the victim is now safe because of Terri’s swift and decisive action, which is the perfect example of if you see something, say/do something.
