2024-2025 Budget Update
The Board of Trustees heard an update regarding the 2024-2025 Budget. Key points from the presentation include:
• Projected Deficit: Forecasts indicate a projected deficit budget of approximately $7.2 million for 2024-2025. The deficit is due to inflationary costs and an increase in student enrollment
coupled with no expected increase in state funding per student allotment.
• Compensation Plan: A compensation plan for teachers and staff was discussed as part of the budget update.
• Staffing Needs: Additional staffing is needed to address the growth in student enrollment and the opening of two Ninth Grade Campuses in August 2024.
The final compensation plan is anticipated to be approved during the April 15 Monthly Board Meeting.
Team of Eight Training
The Board of Trustees participated in the annual Team of Eight School Board training as required by the Texas Education Code. The training covered various topics, including:
• Changes in STAAR assessment;
• Strategies for evaluating and improving student outcomes;
• Support systems for training new leaders; and
• Information regarding the Teacher Incentive Allotment.
In addition, information about the opening of the two Ninth Grade Campuses and the Texas Education Agency required science textbook adoption were also shared at the training.
