Dallas, TX (June 3, 2024) – Registration opened Saturday June 1st, for the 57th Annual Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot, presented by Texas Health. The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is a North Texas tradition that takes place each year on Thanksgiving morning. Participants can choose to run or walk the race in-person in Downtown Dallas on Thursday, November 28th, or join virtually from their neighborhood or anywhere across the country.
Last fall, the race drew in nearly 18,000 runners and walkers, one of the largest Trot crowds in recent years. This year’s in-person event will feature fun and entertainment for the whole family, including two costume contests, one for runners and one for dogs, and new for this year, a Diaper Dash for the youngest YMCA kids. Participants in the Diaper Dash will receive their very own race onesie. Virtual and in-person participants will receive fun race swag, in addition to their race t-shirt.
Individuals who sign up by July 31st will receive the best prices of the season for the 5K and 8-Mile distances, in person and virtual. The Y ensures all members have access to programming regardless of an individual’s financial standing. Donations from the event go to support Y programming including Safety Around Water, chronic disease prevention, food distribution, youth sports, teen leadership programs, camps, and pre-school education.
“The Turkey Trot is more than a road race, it is the way North Texans have kicked off their holiday season for more than half a century. Each year, I look forward to seeing long-time participants, new runners, families, and a fun diverse group of people come together for a fun morning,” said Curt Hazelbaker, President and CEO, YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. “This event helps support the impact the Y makes in our communities each year and I am excited to see what 2024 will bring.”
The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is presented by Texas Health. Additional sponsors for the event include Amazon, Caterpillar, Luke’s Locker, Pepsi, and TruMoo. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
