Rockwall Police Department investigate murder scene

ROCKWALL, TX (October 18, 2024) – On Thursday, October 17th, 2024, just after 1:00am, Rockwall Police responded to a 911 call regarding an unresponsive male in the parking lot of a business in the 2100 block of Summer Lee Drive. Officers and Emergency Medical Services arrived and discovered a male subject who had been shot and his truck was found to have been stolen. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The scene was secured and the Rockwall PD Criminal Investigation Division responded to investigate the offense. Later that morning, the victim’s stolen truck was located in a nearby city and further investigation led to the identification of a suspect vehicle believed to be involved in the offense. That vehicle was subsequently located in a nearby county and two persons of interest were contacted and each were charged with Capital Murder. The deceased person is identified as 34-year-old Jean Carlos Iraheta. The arrestees are identified as 32-year-old Abygail Chaparro and 29-year-old Terry Lacy and they are being transferred to the Rockwall County Detention Center later today.

The Rockwall Police Department is grateful to the local, state, and federal partners who assisted us in various ways during this investigation and aided in the quick apprehension of these suspects. This includes the Dallas Police Department, Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office, Palo Pinto Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The investigation into this offense is ongoing.
