Rockwall’s Sylvia Aziz releases “Good Vibes” EP

Rockwall’s Sylvia Aziz releases “Good Vibes” EP

Rockwall, TX (September 8, 2025) – Rockwall resident and Rockwall High School graduate, Sylvia Aziz, has released Good Vibes a new Extended Play (EP) featuring her own songs.

Her friend and frequent Blue Ribbon News contributor, Katie Rose Watson, spoke with her to get more information on this exciting venture and the process behind the release.

How would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard it before?
My sound blends soulful vocals with modern, feel-good beats. I strive to have it be reflective but uplifting, something you can vibe to on a drive and also sink into during quiet moments.

What other musicians would you liken your sound to?
I grew up listening to a wide range of artists, and I think that shows up in my music. People have told me one track carries a Stevie Nicks or Fleetwood Mac vibe, while another has hints of vintage Beyoncé. There is also a touch of the 90’s throughout, which is a time and a sound I’ve always loved.

Did you write the songs for this EP? What is your writing process like?
Yes, I wrote all the songs. Writing for me usually starts with hearing a sound and equating it with a phrase that I cannot shake. From there it builds with melody and layers. Sometimes it flows out all at once, other times it feels like piecing together a puzzle until the message is right.

Where did you find the inspiration for your EP?
The songs are inspired by different chapters of my life but also a hint of watching other loved ones around me: love, loss, moving forward, and finding good vibes even when life feels messy. It is a snapshot of my journey back into music and back into myself.

Did you record your EP here in DFW?
Yes, I recorded it with Jeff Mount at Sessionworks Studios in Hurst, TX! Jeff and I worked together more than 10 years ago, so returning to his studio for this project felt like coming full circle. He is a magician in the booth and made the entire process effortless.

What made you want to return to singing?
Music has always been a part of me, even when life pulled me in other directions. After years of focusing on career, family, and building my life, I felt a pull to reconnect with my voice and share it again. Singing is my release, my joy, and my way of connecting with people!

You recently moved back to Rockwall! What are some of your favorite things to do in town?
Yes! I love spending time by the lake because it feels like a peaceful reset so you can probably find me at The Harbor grabbing an ice cream with my family. I enjoy exploring local spots and we love to eat at our favorites – Fable & Fire and Onassis. I also love bringing music and sound baths to the community here and enjoy holding meditation sound bath sessions at Radiant Yoga – literally the best fitness community I’ve ever been a part of!

Good Vibes was recorded earlier this summer. You can listen to it here.
