Orlando Lopez announces campaign for Texas House District 33

Heath, TX (November 20, 2025) – Orlando López, a South Texas born public education advocate and longtime champion of working families, has officially announced his campaign for Texas House District 33. López, who lives in the district with his wife Carolina, a former public school educator, and their daughter Clara, says he is running to refocus state leadership on real issues affecting Texas families.

“Texas families deserve a representative who listens first, puts people over politics, and delivers real solutions,” López said. “Our state is falling behind not because we lack resources or talent, but because too many leaders are consumed by political culture wars instead of fixing classrooms, healthcare, and the issues that matter.”

Raised in the Rio Grande Valley by hardworking Mexican-American parents and guided by his grandmother’s example of service, López brings a grounded, community-first perspective. His family members in the LGBTQIA+ community also shaped his conviction that equality must be demonstrated through action, not just belief.

López’s campaign will focus on the priorities most urgent to District 33. Strengthening Public Education. Tackling teacher shortages, raising wages, improving classrooms, and stopping voucher schemes that drain funds from public schools.

Women’s Healthcare and Maternal Health. Restoring access to reproductive care, ensuring medical clarity for doctors, and reducing preventable maternal deaths.

Protecting LGBTQIA+ Texans Opposing discriminatory legislation and affirming the right of every individual to live safely and openly.

Immigration and Workforce Solutions Recognizing the economic and cultural contributions immigrants make to Texas, including billions in annual tax revenue.

Gun Safety and Community Protection Promoting safe-storage laws, closing loopholes, expanding background checks, and keeping guns away from violent offenders, while respecting responsible gun ownership and the Second Amendment.

López emphasized that families in District 33 are ready for leadership rooted in integrity, responsibility, and respect. “I’m running because District 33 deserves steady, responsible leadership that reflects our values not the political chaos coming out of Austin,” López added. “People here want good schools, safe communities, affordable healthcare, and a government that respects their lives. That’s the work I’m committed to.”

Orlando López is a dedicated community advocate, proud husband, and father. His campaign centers on listening to the community, leading with integrity, and delivering results for working families in District 33. For more information, please visit his campaign website at www.lopezfortxhd33.com.
