Rockwall, TX (December 16, 2025) – Commemorating Wreaths Across America, the Commerce-Greenville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., remembered and honored Veterans buried at the Historic Glen Hill Cemetery in Rockwall.  The cemetery is all that remains of what was once a thriving African-American section of Rockwall, known as The Settlement, or The Bottoms.

This was the organization’s 4th year to lay wreaths at the small cemetery located near The Harbor with the number of participants growing each year. On Saturday, December 13, a large crowd including Carol Moton Hawkins and Joyce Scroggins (descendants of the family buried at Glen Hill) assembled in a poignant time to honor and remember the service and commitment of these Veterans. In addition to members of the alumni association, Saturday’s event welcomed members of American Legion Post 117, John Vick from Senator Bob Hall’s office, Rockwall City Council member Sedric Thomas, Justice of the Peace Mark Russo, Tom Davidson (bagpiper), Wayne Janosik (bugler), Wreaths Across America Location Coordinator Mary Kay Starnes, and members of the community.
