Reminder to Rockwall Residents: Updated Garbage, Recycling, and Brush & Bulk Services begin

Rockwall, TX (December 29, 2025) – Beginning January 2026, the City of Rockwall will implement updates to its garbage, recycling, brush, and bulk collection provided through Republic Services. Residents are encouraged to visit the City’s website for full details, maps, and frequently asked questions.

Garbage & Recycling Collection Updates

New Cart Delivery & Old Cart Removal

·    Every household will receive one garbage cart and one recycling cart, included in your base rate on your water bill

·    Current Monday/Thursday zones have begun getting their new carts delivered

·    Current Tuesday/Friday zones will begin to get their carts the week of January 5

·    You may begin using your new carts once they arrive

·    If you currently rent a Republic Services cart, it will be removed, just leave it out at your normal location during your delivery week until they pick it up

·    Small recycling bins and personal garbage cans may be kept for personal use but will no longer be emptied. If you don’t want to keep them, place them in your bulk pile during your designated week

Effective January 12, 2026

·    Garbage and recycling will be collected one time per week

·    Some residents will have a new collection day, check the new schedule map

·    Only Republic Services supplied carts will be emptied

·    Garbage: blue cart with black lid

·    Recycling: blue cart with light blue lid

·    All carts must be placed at the curb or in the alley by 7:00 a.m. of your pick up day. Your pick up location has not changed

·    Carts should be 3 feet apart and away from other objects

·    All materials must fit inside the cart with the lid fully closed

Recycling Reminder

No need to place recycling items in a bag, leave loose, and place in the cart. Accepted items include:

·    Plastic bottles & jugs

·    Cardboard & paper

·    Glass

·    Metal cans

Plastic bags, food waste, batteries, electronics, and other non-approved items should not be placed in recycling carts.

Brush & Bulk Collection Changes

Effective January 1, 2026

·    Brush and bulk service will continue twice per month

·    A new 6 cubic yard limit will apply per pickup (9 feet long × 6 feet high × 3 feet wide)

·    Materials must be placed at the front curb, even if you have an alley
