Dr. Gene Burton College & Career Academy educator named TAFE Area 11 Teacher Leader of the Year

Rockwall, TX (February 12, 2026) – Dr. Gene Burton College & Career Academy (GBCCA) is proud to announce that educator Robin Peterson has been awarded Teacher Leader of the Year for the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) Area 11. Mrs. Peterson was nominated by the GBCCA TAFE officers and selected for the honor by her TAFE peers across the region.

In their nomination, GBCCA TAFE officers shared high praise for Mrs. Peterson and the positive impact she has made on their educational experiences and personal growth: “Mrs. Peterson has a way of making each student feel valued and understood. She cares not just about our academic success but also about us as individuals. Her support has helped us feel more confident and motivated in our education and our day-to-day lives. She always brings energy and positivity to every class, making everyone feel welcome and excited to participate. We know that many students look up to her and feel comfortable seeking advice and guidance from her.”

Mrs. Peterson has also been nominated for the TAFE State Teacher Leader of the Year. State-level results will be announced later this semester.

GBCCA congratulates Mrs. Peterson on this well‑deserved recognition and celebrates her ongoing commitment to inspiring the next generation of educators.
