Dana Macalik steps down for new opportunities
(ROCKWALL, TX – July 7, 2017) The Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center announced today that its current President, Dana K Macalik, IOM, will resign her position effective August 24, 2017, in order to pursue new opportunities.
Macalik said her resignation comes with a mix of excitement for the future, gratitude for the past, and sadness at leaving an organization she loves.
“I am so proud to have been a part of this extraordinary organization,” Macalik said. “It has been a true honor to work with our members, partners and our community as we collectively worked to promote and strengthen the Rockwall area by building prosperity through a healthy economy and a strong business sector. A lot of exciting and innovative work remains, and I know I am leaving the Chamber in a position of strength to tackle the challenges ahead.”
Macalik joined the Chamber as President in 2011. Under her leadership, the Chamber and Visitors Center has reached significant milestones – achieving tremendous growth and improvement in its brand, its business and operational processes, as well as its overall membership. The organization has been recognized for its outstanding member investment value, positive customer experiences, and efforts to foster a strong sense of community. This past March, the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center was awarded 4-STAR Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for excellence in operations, joining an elite group of 3% of all US Chamber of Commerce organizations.
During Macalik’s six years as President, the Chamber implemented many new programs including Young Professionals Rockwall, the Professional Women’s Association, Investment Tiers – as well as the twice successful $100,000 New Membership Event. The Chamber also earned several prestigious awards for marketing, advertising and communication. Last month in League City, the Chamber received the honor of First Place for their Visitor and Relocation Guide from the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives.
Macalik, who is a recently elected member of Rockwall City Council, has also served on several Boards of Directors, including the Texas Association of Business, Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives, and North Texas Chamber Executives. She leaves the Chamber to join the Keller Williams-Rockwall office as CEO/Team Leader.
“We could not be more pleased with Mrs. Macalik’s tenure,” said Brett Lee, Chairman of the Chamber Board. “She accomplished an enormous amount during her time at the Chamber and championed significant advances supporting the strategic plans to transform the Chamber into one of the leading professional organizations in the area.”
“Mrs. Macalik has proven to be a great asset to our Chamber, and to our community,” Lee added. “Her dedication to her job and love of her community is reflected in the many successful programs connected to the Chamber. We wish her nothing but success and happiness as she moves into her new role.”
Lee said that the task of hiring a new president will begin immediately. The Chamber Board of Directors has formed a Search Committee to oversee the selection process, with the collaborative efforts of the Executive Board, current and past board members, and community leaders to assist with identifying and evaluating candidates. The Search Committee specifically comprises the 2017 Executive Board of Directors, with Lee serving as Chairman. Darby Burkey, Vice President of Partner Engagement, will serve as the Interim President throughout the transition.
