(ROCKWALL, TX — February 1, 2018) The Jones Elementary Library just held their first ever Kid Inventor Challenge! January 17 was Kid Inventor Day and Jones wanted to get the students’ to think in a different way. The competition was run by Mrs. Loya, the librarian, and students were challenged with creating either a new toy or a new game and instructions that went with their invention. The submissions were judged based on completion, clarity of writing, innovation, function, and construction.
There were many great submissions but 1st place went to Chloe Mitchell for her board game, Penguins Peak. Brandon Hutchings, with Shoebox Shootout, and Mateo Puentes, with Heroes Journey, tied for second place. “It inspired me to be creative and think outside of the box,” said Brandon Hutchings. “I really enjoyed it!”
