(ROCKWALL, TX — March 2, 2018) Enid Reyes, a successful business owner, accomplished community leader, and an active longtime Rockwall resident, has announced her run for Rockwall City Council Place 4.
Whether working as a community leader or a business owner, Reyes’ main objective has always been to settle for nothing less than results that are fair and equitable for all parties. The importance of enhancing everyone’s quality of life and access to opportunities is what has fortified her reputation in Rockwall as someone who bridges divides, helps to solve problems and gets things done.
As a result, she has acquired extensive experience in knowing how to plan for big projects, work with diverse groups, implement the nuts and bolts and budget for successful outcomes.
Reyes’ platform focuses on roads, strong infrastructure and sustainability, and public safety.
“We are being asked in the next Bond Election to vote for $85 million,” Reyes said. “The money will be used to fix existing roads. It will not solve our increasing traffic issues. Why add more debt to the city when tax revenue dollars should be set aside each year for road maintenance? It is important to have financial solvency if we want long-term prosperity.
“To ensure Rockwall can accommodate our increasing growth, we need created a long-term, balanced and sustainable plan that will ensure Rockwall grows responsibly and adequately. The City of Rockwall’s geographical area is limited. Therefore, we must be good stewards of the land and its environment and be thoughtful in our use of it now– for the future.”
Lastly, on Public Safety, as of now, the City of Rockwall Fire Department is not running at the national standards for the size of the city. Population growth is on the rise. Therefore, to accommodate Rockwall’s growth, we need to create a realistic, conservative plan for the fire department, as well as, for the city’s other public safety departments.”
Reyes is active in the community by serving in several local charities, is a board member of the Rockwall Chamber of Commerce Professional Women’s Alliance; and has been awarded the Diversity Leadership Award given by the Rockwall Independent School District.
