(ROCKWALL, TX — October 2, 2018) To celebrate Constitution Week (Sept. 17-23), the Rockwall County Bar Association held a U.S. Constitution Poster Contest for Rockwall ISD 5th graders.
During the contest, students used their art skills to show what the Constitution means to them. A winner was selected from each Rockwall ISD elementary school, and winning students each received a $100 savings bond. All participants also received a free pocket Constitution.
Since students are first introduced to the U.S. Constitution in the 5th grade, the contest offered a perfect way for kids to show off their creative skills and knowledge of this important American document.
“The Rockwall fifth graders’ posters reflect a genuine understanding of the freedoms and liberties our Constitution guarantees to us as Americans,” said Rockwall County Bar Association President Margaret Lovell O’Connor. “The RISD teachers are doing a great job. I am impressed, inspired and hopeful for the future of our community and our country.”
Many local banks showed their support by sponsoring the contest and displaying several of the posters in their lobbies. Bank sponsors included Guaranty Bank and Trust, American National Bank of Texas, Independent Bank, Alliance Bank and Inwood National Bank. Folks can drop in to each of these banks and see many of the students’ posters on display.
Congrats to the following winners of the poster contest:
