ROCKWALL, TX – September 30, 2020 — Meet Artisan Zachary Wincent. Zach is part of a new movement of adults furloughed from jobs and using creative methods to stay engaged, develop a needed product and receive income from the venture.
Unable to work or attend his day program (secondary to medical restrictions around COVID risk), Zach has become an independent contractor, making goat milk and honey soap to sell in the community.
Through networking, with the initial idea from Zach’s mom, an occupational therapist, a need was recognized- that young adults with unique abilities are isolated at home and missing out on things that matter. Through a fundraising effort on gofundme, soap kits were purchased, and Zach is the first independent contractor/soap maker. He is selling his soaps through networking, local newspapers, shops and next year’s Farmer’s Market. He is sponsored by BeyondAble.org in their online store, a foundation that supports projects impacting the independence of children and adults.
Zach is a “maker” and gets satisfaction from creating a product that others can use. He is generating income, so he can grow his ABLE account, for times when savings are needed – like attending a conference on entrepreneurship.
