ROCKWALL, TX – March 1, 2021 — Rockwall-Heath High School graduate and McLendon-Chisholm Economic Development Committee member Christian Giadolor was recently accepted into the Mayfield Fellows Program.
The Mayfield Fellows Program (MFP) is a nine-month-long entrepreneurship work-study program that aims to teach the theory and practice of entrepreneurship to Stanford undergraduates / co-terminal students. Each year, 12 students are selected from a variety of engineering or related disciplines. Committed to the idea of building an intentional community of change-agents, MFP is considered to be Stanford’s most prestigious opportunity to build entrepreneurial and leadership acumen.
Giadolor is a senior at Stanford University majoring in political science, minoring in civil engineering, and pursuing a masters in sociology. The U.S. Presidential Scholar of Texas in 2017, Giadolor is the first Mayfield fellow selected from the state since 2019.
Many former Mayfield Fellows – about 20% of them – have gone on to start their own companies. Alumni include Kevin Systrom, co-founder and CEO of Instagram; Justin Rosenstein co-founder of Asana; and Josh Reeves, co-founder of Gusto. Other alumni have taken on prestigious roles in powerhouse tech companies, such as Elizabeth Weil, head of corporate development at Twitter; Stephanie Hannon, lead product manager at Google Wave; and Julie Zhuo, product design manager at Facebook, to name a few.
Giadolor, who also serves on the university board of trustees, hopes to discover how the best practices of entrepreneurship can re-imagine social enterprise and public service.
