HEATH, TX – March 23, 2021 — The Heath city council recognized National Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month with a proclamation during its virtual meeting this evening, March 23rd.
The council welcomed members of the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County and Rockwall County District Attorney Kenda Culpepper, as Mayor Kelson Elam proclaimed the month of April 2021 as Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month in the City of Heath. The proclamation called on communities to make an effort this April to promote awareness and participate in activities that benefit children and their families in a safe, stable and nurturing environment.
“On behalf of our board, our staff and volunteers, but most importantly the kids and families walking through our doors, we appreciate this proclamation and what it does to help create awareness,” said Patricia Mejia, President and CEO of the Rockwall CAC. “Together we can make a difference and help stand up against child abuse.”
All of Rockwall County will go blue – the official color of prevention – during the month of April in support of kids suffering abuse and their families. The CAC invites all to attend its Go Blue for Kids Kickoff Party at Standard Service in Heath on March 29th from 4-6 p.m. Bring the family, grab an early dinner, and enjoy complimentary cotton candy. Teddy Bear Mobile will be on site and will donate a portion of their proceeds to the CAC. Special guest, Fried and Free will also be at the event, promoting their gluten free fair food options.
All April long, area businesses and organizations will take part in special initiatives and promotions to benefit the Rockwall CAC and its mission to stand up against child abuse. Visit the Rockwall CAC website at rockwallcac.org and stay tuned to their Facebook page to see how you can #GoBlueforKids this April.
