ROCKWALL, TX – April 13, 2021 — The Rockwall High School Jacket Babes JV Drill Team and Officers competed at the American Drill Team National Championships on March 27th. The Jacket Babe team wowed the judges and competition with their entertaining dances in jazz, pom, lyrical and novelty; placing first, National Champion, in each category.
The team’s lyrical dance, Something in the Water, also won a Wow Award from the judges. Based on their scores from each dance, the team won Overall National Champion JV team. To top off the day, they were crowned Best of the Best out of 45 schools attending the competition; which included many varsity teams.
The Jacket Babe officers, the Showstopping Six, also won National Champion in each of their categories: jazz, lyrical, hip hop and contemporary. They too, won Overall National Champion JV Officers, and placed 1st runner-up Best of the Best Officers; again beating out varsity officer groups in the process. Three of the team’s officers placed in the solo competition: 3rd runner-up Hadley Daffin, 1st runner-up Jolie Wilkerson, and National Champion JV soloist Ellie Ortiz. The Jacket Babes are directed by Ms. Whitney Walker and are led by Captain, Jolie Wilkerson; First Lieutenant, Hadley Daffin; Lieutenants: Ashley Baumann, Rylie Carter, Ellie Ortiz, and Madelyn Woodliff. Line members include: Alexandra Carroll, Ava Dalton, Avery Dearing, Juliann Fleming, Sophia Gonzalez, Arisa Hampton, Haley Havens, Payton Jones, Kate Rohde, Kairi Riddle, Hadley Roberts, Maya Rodriguez, Riley Smith, and Emma Sullins. Managers are Raygen Pruitt and Mackenzie Starling.
