Just Between Friends event helps families save money

Raising a child does not have to be unaffordable

DALLAS,TX. (September 8, 2014) The stats are staggering. The USDA claims it costs a family more than $240,000 to raise a child. But there is help available for families to not only save money – but also make some extra cash.

A local mom is helping families sidestep the “average” child-rearing cost and help save the family budget with Just Between Friends.

The Just Between Friends event is set for September 25-28 at the Mesquite Rodeo Exhibit Hall.

At Just Between Friends Dallas…

  • Local families sell their new and gently used children’s and maternity items – turning clutter into cash
  • Other families shop and save 50 to 90% on items for back-to-school and fall/winter
  • All money stays in local community and most goes into pockets of local families

Just Between Friends helps families “turn clutter into cash” as a consignor.  Families price and tag their own items using an easy online system, and JBF does the rest of the work handling the sales. Consignors earn 65 percent of the sales and 70 percent if they volunteer.  The rest of the money covers the cost of putting on the event.

Local mom Susan Newhouse organizes and runs the JBF event twice a year. She is thrilled to help the community save and earn money.  JBF also gives back, donating unsold items and part of the proceeds to Buckner Children’s Home.  Susan is available for interviews before and during the event. We can also provide families who participate as consignors and shoppers for interviews.
