Holiday donations to Meals on Wheels help Rockwall County seniors all year long

ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (Dec. 13, 2014) Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County is in the middle of their 2014 Holiday Hunger Campaign: Nourish Rockwall Seniors. The campaign is a significant fundraiser for their operating fund and contributes to operations year round. At this time of year, you can have an impact on someone’s life right here in our community with MOWSS.

Barbara, a MOWSS client, wrote the following in a recent survey, “Meals on Wheels is important to me because I am disabled; now I can’t see because I have macular degeneration and can’t drive either, now homebound. It lifts my spirits when someone brings me a meal. At 88, I know I am not forgotten.”RockwallCountyseniors need us to remember them.

This past year, MOWSS delivered 44,000 meals, 400 emergency food boxes, and served 292 clients. Ninety-five caregivers received information services. Each of these tasks is essential to their mission to keep the elderly and disabled citizens of Rockwall County living in their homes as long as safely possible through supportive services, nutritious meals, and daily human contact.

Every $32 donation feeds aRockwallCountysenior for a week and every donation makes a difference. The goal for the Nourish Rockwall Seniors campaign is to raise $32,000. This is an ambitious goal, but there is strength in numbers andRockwallCountycan do it. Additionally, every dollar donated to MOWSS stays in Rockwall County. This giving season, consider supporting Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County.
