D-Day for V-Day: Local dentist to provide free dental services to veterans Nov 9

Dr. Stan Lowrance and his daughter, fourth year dental student Shanae, welcome WW II and Korean War veteran Vernon Ribera to D-Day 2017.

(ROCKWALL, TX – Oct. 23, 2018) “We provided free dental services to 58 very deserving Rockwall County veterans last year; let’s see if we can up our game this year,” said Dr. Stan Lowrance in kicking off the 2018 D-Day for V-Day event.

D-Day (Dental Day) for V-Day (Veterans Day) provides a free exam and either a cleaning or first line dental procedure (filling or extraction) for Rockwall County veterans.

Celebrate Veterans Day with a free dental checkup at Lowrance Clinic

This year’s event will be held on Friday, November 9 at Lowrance Dental, 1350 Summer Lee Drive in Rockwall. The clinic will close to regular customers and attend to the eligible veterans by appointment all day Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:20 p.m.

Rockwall’s Terry Fisher American Legion Post 117 is collaborating with Lowrance Clinic to assist in scheduling and administration tasks. Mark Kipphut, Post Commander, announced that the Legion will start taking appointments on October 22nd at 8 a.m.

“Appointments can be made telephonically or new this year by text message,” said Kipphut. Simply text your full name and “I want an appointment” and our duty officer will text back your appointment time. The number to call or text for appointments is 972-762-7685 and the appointment desk will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. everyday starting October 22nd.

Lowrance Clinic will augment its staff with dentists and dental technicians to examine and treat up to 90 veterans on D-Day.

“The American Dental Society recommends an annual exam and cleaning yearly and our D-Day event will satisfy that need at no cost,” said Lowrance. This service is available only to veterans. The Legion will check veteran credentials on arriving at the clinic. A DD Form 214, Texas Drivers License with a Veteran stamp, or a retired Armed
Forces ID card are suitable credentials.
