(Rockwall) The 2011-12 season promises to be the best yet for the Rockwall Community Playhouse. Auditions for the RCP’s Hello, Dolly! are set for 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8. Those wishing to audition should prepare 16 bars of song, sheet music, a short monologue, resume and photo. All roles are available – for men, women and some children.
Performances will be Sept. 23, 24, 25, 30; Oct. 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9. Pam Whittaker will direct this musical comedy, which features songs like Put On Your Sunday Clothes; Ribbons Down My Back; Before the Parade Passes By; Hello, Dolly!; It Only Takes a Moment; and So Long, Dearie.
Available roles include:
Mrs. Dolly Gallagher Levi – An indefatigable meddling matchmaker of strikingly dramatic appearance; a widow in her middle years
Ernestina – A heavy-set girl in need of Ms. Levi’s services
Ambrose Kemper – A young artist seeking to marry Ermengarde
Horace Vandergelder – Proprietor of a Hay & Feed Store in Yonkers, NY and a client of Mrs. Levi’s. A widower of some means
Ermengarde – The 17 year old niece of Horace Vandergelder
Cornelius Hackel – Vandergelder’s chief clerk, 33 years old
Barnaby Tucker – An assistant to Cornelius, 17 years old
Minnie Fay – A young girl who works in Irene’s shop
Irene Molloy – A millineress with a Hat Shop near 14th Street in NYC. Mrs. Levi has introduced her to Mr. Vandergelder
Mrs. Rose – Sells vegetables from a street cart, a friend of Mrs. Levi’s from years before
Coachman – non-speaking, chorus
Horses – chorus/dancers
Rudolph Reisenweber – The Prussian major-domo of the Harmonia Gardens Restaurant. (male or female)
Stanley – a young waiter. (male or female)
Fritz, Harry, Louie, Danny, Manny & Hank – Harmonia Gardens waiters (male or female)
First Cook (male or female)
Second Cook (male or female)
Judge – white whiskered, red nose, NYC night court
Court Clerk – Recorder (male or female)
Paperhanger
