(Plano) The City of Plano Police and Fire emergency sirens will sound for one minute beginning at noon Sept. 11, as part of the national Stop and Remember Sept. 11th tenth anniversary commemoration.
The U. S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution (S. Res. 237) calling on all Americans to participate in a Moment of Remembrance on Sept. 11, 2011. For one minute, at noon, first responders and others in cities across the nation will sound sirens and bells in a signal to each of us to Stop and Remember the tenth anniversary of the tragedies of Sept. 11, 2001.
In Plano, the sounding of sirens will apply to fire apparatus and police squad vehicles in the field, but will not apply to those engaged in emergency response or where deemed unsafe or inappropriate.
Plano’s Fire and Police Departments will also host a public remembrance at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 at Plano Fire Station #1, located at 1901 K Ave.
