‘State of Education’ to underscore DISD challenges

(Dallas) The Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its annual State of Education Luncheon from noon to 1:30 .m. Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the Sheraton, 4oo N. Olive St. in Dallas.

Keynote speakers will be Dr. John Deasy, Superintendent of Schools, and Monica Garcia, President of the Board of Education, both from the Los Angeles Unified School District – the nation’s second largest public school system. LAUSD serves nearly 680,000 students on more than 1,000 campuses.

Luncheon attendees can learn from the extreme challenges facing Los Angeles, as the search continues for a new DISD superintendent to focus on student achievement, quality human capital, operational efficiencies, and college and career preparation.

The event’s presenting sponsor is Capital One Bank. AT&T is the gold sponsor.
