Worldwide Photo Walk comes to Harbor (story & video)

Worldwide Photo Walk comes to Harbor (story & video)

On Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2, photographers from all over the world will walk with Scott Kelby, president of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals and #1 bestselling computer and technology book author, in the Fourth Annual Worldwide Photo Walk. The event is recognized as the world’s largest global social photography event in the history of photography. In 2010, more than 30,000 photographers walked in more than 1,000 locations taking 6 million images in just one day.

Local photographer, Andrea Chandler, is helping Rockwall take part in this worldwide event by organizing a Photo Walk from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at The Harbor on Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall.

Organizers agree that Rockwall has developed a wonderful Harbor district that captures many interesting aspects. Within one general area the developers were able to capture the great view of Lake Ray Hubbard with a beautiful lighthouse perched on the docks. The water features provide dimension with their architecture. With the beautiful layout, various heights, and extensive detailing, the Harbor District seems to be the ideal focus for photographers to gather. It has so many things that can attract the shutterbug from textures, landscapes, abstract, water, and people.

There will be live musicians, models, and watercraft available to photograph at The Harbor. Following the event, walkers will meet at 7:45 p.m. for dinner at Ruby Tuesdays at The Harbor, to share their experiences and pictures.

Photographs submitted from the walk will be collected on the Walk’s flickr page and shared with the Scott Kelby group for their judging. There will be one walk winner, but all will be submitted to the international walk page.

The Photo Walk is free and open to anyone who owns a camera. More Photo Walk details and sign-up information is available at:  worldwidephotowalk.com, worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/rockwall-tx-united-states, or visit the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk Facebook page.
