(Rowlett) Covington’s Nursery invites the community to join them in celebrating the coming of autumn at its 4th Annual Fall Festival from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.
The festival will be held amidst the nursery’s gigantic pumpkin patch and beautiful pansy displays, located at 5518 Liberty Grove in Rowlett. Many fun, family activities are planned including a hay maze, petting zoo, face painting, painted pumpkin gallery and contest, and an old-fashioned hayride around the nursery’s 18 acres of trees and greenhouses.
Kids can attend a come-and-go Jr. Gardener Workshop where they will decorate and plant their own pansy flowerpots to take home.
Many of Covington’s vendors and local businesses will have booths with games and treats for the kids. KKVI Radio will broadcast live at the festival with Bill Wright spinning easy listening tunes for all to enjoy.
Nursery owners, Joe and Gayle Covington, along with most of the team at Covington’s will be dressed in costumes (you’ll know Gayle by her ladybug outfit). Boys and girls attending the festival are encouraged to wear their favorite costumes as well.
The cost of admission is one can of food per person. All canned food collected before and during the festival will go to support the Rowlett Needy Children’s Fund, and everyone who donates will receive a ticket for a chance to win free flats of pansies; winners will be drawn and announced throughout the festival.
Joe and Gayle encourage everyone to take the family to Covington’s and enjoy a glorious fall afternoon filled with fun, smiles and laughter. Don’t forget your camera for fabulous family photos!
