Jobs, development coming to Frisco

An estimated 205 jobs and a $60 million development and a corporate headquarters  are coming to Frisco with the relocation of Gearbox Software to Frisco Square.

The project, designed by O’Brien Associates, is set to break ground in 2012, with Gearbox Software being the lead tenant taking 61,000 square feet of office space.

“Gearbox Software, as a company, and its employees, represent businesses that are attracted to the environment we’re building in the Frisco Square community – one that values a convenient location, accessible and advanced technological features, and a pedestrian-friendly work place,” said Jim Leslie, CEO and Managing Partner at Frisco Square. “This project represents the positive momentum and future success of this real estate development,” Leslie added.

“We are excited to be a part of the rapid growth of Frisco and thrilled that we are able to take part in bringing more exposure through our industry to the city of Frisco,” said Brian Martel, Principle and Gearbox Partner.  “We know the culture, atmosphere, and appeal of Frisco Square will meet and exceed all expectations for our business and our employees,” said Martel.

“We’re very excited to have Gearbox (Software) join the Frisco family,” said Mayor Maher Maso.  “As one of the fastest growing cities in the country, Gearbox Software is the perfect fit for Frisco – particularly since Gearbox (Software) is a quality, high growth-high energy company considered a leader in its industry. Gearbox (Software) products are known around the world, so we consider this to be a destination business.  A company with such world wide appeal will have a great impact on the potential exposure the City of Frisco will receive from the international business community,” said Mayor Maso.

The 8-story building will incorporate 100,000 square feet of office space, 50,000 square feet of retail space, 220 apartment units and parking facilities. “We are proud to have Gearbox Software moving their corporate headquarters to Frisco. This relocation reinforces our commitment to recruiting a young, diverse workforce and keeping the Frisco business community competitive,” said James Gandy, president of the Frisco Economic Development Corporation.

Frisco Square Development was represented by Jones Lange LaSalle’s Senior Vice Presidents James Esquivel and Jeff Eckert and Gearbox Software, LLC was represented by Baron Aldrine with CB Richard Ellis.

“I’m very excited for Gearbox and proud to be a part of this project.  The Gearbox building in Frisco Square will be one of the most dynamic and unique mixed-use office buildings in the Metroplex,” said Baron Aldrine.  “The partners of Frisco Square and the Frisco EDC played an integral part in exceeding all of our expectations and truly making this a perfect fit for Gearbox’s headquarters,” said Aldrine.

City of Frisco

Located in North Texas, Frisco defines “Progress in Motion”.  In 2010, the U.S. Census Bureau named Frisco the fastest growing city over the past decade. This once small town turned bustling dealmaker is home to four ‘pro’ sport teams; world class venues; more than 8-million square feet of retail and restaurants; 43 parks,  59 miles of trails; two hospitals; two museums and hundreds of public and private art pieces displayed throughout Frisco’s 72 square miles.  Three school districts serve Frisco including FISD, dubbed the fastest growing school district in the nation!  Higher education opportunities are available through Collin College and two university satellite facilities. Frisco fosters progressive leadership and innovative ideas, making it the first city in the country to mandate Energy Star standards for new home construction.  It’s no wonder why national publications have called Frisco the ‘Best Place to Live’, ‘Best Place to Relocate’ and ‘Best Place to Raise an Athlete’.
