Kids Fishing Day will be held at the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 12. Angling instructors at LLELA are offering a morning of activities that will introduce children to the art of fishing. Activity stations will include:
- Casting
- Fish Identification
- Fishing safety and ethics
- Types of tackle and bait
- At least one hour of assisted fishing on the Elm Fork
The entrance fee to LLELA is $5/person. There is an additional $2 fee per child for the fishing workshop. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Call 972.219.3930 to register, or email lisacole@unt.edu. The activity is limited to 15 children.
Fishing tackle and bait will be provided, but only during the allotted time. Wear comfortable clothes for outdoor activities, and bring sunscreen and a reusable water bottle for each participant. People over 16 years old do need a license to fish at LLELA.
The Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area is 2,000 acres of prairies, forests, and wetlands managed as a wildlife preserve by a group of agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the University of North Texas, the City of Lewisville, Lewisville ISD, and Texas A & M University.
