Santa set to adjust schedule for Heath Hawk playoffs

Heath Holiday in the Park set for Friday, Dec. 2

The City of Heath Public Works “holiday crew” puts together the 18-foot Christmas tree that is lit each year during the Annual Holiday in the Park in Towne Center Park behind Heath City Hall at 200 Laurence. Festivities include choir performances, visits and photos with Santa Claus, complimentary cocoa, wassail and Christmas cookies, and rides around the park on a miniature train. The City of Heath is ready to welcome Santa at the Annual Heath Holiday in the Park at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 in the Towne Center Park Pavilion located behind City Hall at 200 Laurence.

However, the North Pole reports that if the Heath Hawks Varsity Football Team continues its run in the playoffs on Dec. 2, Santa Claus will re-direct his route to the game. The Tree Lighting will be canceled so that the community can go cheer our Hawks!

“This is a very exciting and busy time for our community,” says Heath Mayor John Ratcliffe. “We would miss hosting our annual tradition, but should the Hawks continue to win, we hope everyone will celebrate the season by cheering the team on to a State Championship win.”

A playoff game involves not only the football team, but the band, drill team and cheerleaders. Although an alternate date was considered, the elementary choirs that participate in Holiday in the Park are already booked solid for the season.
