Hawaiian Falls announced plans today to build the Double BowlsEye from SplashTacular, the largest U.S.-based waterslide manufacturer, at its Roanoke, Texas waterpark. The new $1.55 million thrill ride will be finished for the 2012 season.

“We’re excited that Steve Levine and his team at SplashTacular brought this incredible opportunity to us,” said David Busch, president and CEO of Hawaiian Falls.

“Given the supportive environment for development by Mayor Gierisch and the city of Roanoke, all parties agreed this is the perfect location to showcase the Double BowlsEye to Dallas-Fort Worth and the world. This thrilling ride promises to be one of the best waterpark attractions ever built.”

The Double BowlsEye will launch two separate two-person rafts simultaneously in opposite directions from a 60-foot platform into separate 54-inch enclosed tubes. The rafts rapidly accelerate into near-total darkness when suddenly the thrill ride is accentuated by a light show. Within seconds, the riders are propelled into daylight again as they enter a massive bowl, racing against the other raft. Each raft exits the bowl through its own unique porthole to splash down into a finish lane.

Double BowlsEye Hawaiian Falls“This is the perfect family ride,” said Steve Levine, CEO of SplashTacular. “It’s really the first time that the entire family can experience a competitive thrill ride together. There is no other guest experience like it for waterpark destinations.”

On December 15, 2011, Hawaiian Falls unveiled plans to build the Cyclone Fury, a new $1.6 million multi-slide complex in Roanoke. The six-story tower will feature four slides, including a two-person tube slide that curls around like a coiled snake before launching riders into a splash pool; two 60-foot tall speed slides and a family raft ride. The park is also adding more shade, additional food service options and other guest amenities, bringing the total new investment at Roanoke to more than $3 million after only one season.

“This new attraction further demonstrates Hawaiian Falls’ commitment to our community,” said Roanoke Mayor Carl E. “Scooter” Gierisch, Jr. “We are thrilled to partner with them to bring safe, clean family fun to our residents. These additions will enhance the experience for our residents and attract even more visitors, which benefits our hotels, restaurants and shops. In addition, the park employs nearly 200 area young people in the summer. The additional sales tax revenue is also an advantage. We look forward to continuing our partnership and working together for the benefit of our community.”

Coming off a record-breaking 2011 season, Hawaiian Falls is making additions and improvements to all four of its North Texas parks.

In addition, a new $10 million Hawaiian Falls is currently under construction in Waco, Texas. All improvements and additions will be completed by Memorial Day 2012.

“We’ll be spending more than $7.8 million in additions and improvements to our North Texas parks,” concluded Busch. “We’ve added 10 new permanent positions this year. And the growth will create an additional 50 seasonal positions this summer, bringing our total workforce to more than 1,000 employees in Texas.”

Hawaiian Falls’ regular operating schedule is daily 10:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Individual season passes are on sale now for $75 each, or four or more at $65 each. There’s also an Early Bird Flex Pay plan with four easy payments of $18.75 each. Hawaiian Falls season passes are good for admission to all four North Texas waterparks, plus the new Waco park opening Memorial Day weekend.
