City of Irving achieves record-low crime rate

The Irving Police Department reports that crime in Irving has declined for the eighth consecutive year, according to a city newsletter released yesterday.

Irving’s crime rate decreased an additional 12 percent in 2011, with significant reductions in the robbery and theft categories.

Residents can keep track of crime in their neighborhoods with CrimeReports. This new crime-mapping website compiles information on crimes that have occurred in Irving by incident type, time and location, and marks them on a map of the city.

Residents also can sign up for crime alert email to notify them of incidents in their neighborhood.
