Rockwall ISD to host Multi-Cultural Celebration

Rockwall ISD presents Multi-Cultural CelebrationRockwall ISD will host its 2nd annual Multi-Cultural Celebration at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 in the Rockwall-Heath High School Performing Arts Center, located at 801 Laurence Drive in Heath.

The event celebrates the many cultures represented in a student body of nearly 14,000 students.

Last year, the first-ever RISD Multi-Cultural Celebration featured student artwork, essays, cultural performances and a parade of flags. The Rockwall-Heath High School Performing Arts Center housed the event and was close to capacity at 1,500 seats.

This year, more than 100 students will be dressed in costumes from their native country and walk in a grand parade of nations that includes over 50 countries.

Currently, there are more than 45 languages other than English for Rockwall ISD students as the primary language. This and other facts about diversity in our schools were presented as part of curriculum leading up to the event.

Attendance is free and everyone is encouraged to attend this special event.
