Come to historic downtown McKinney on Jan. 14 to enjoy Second Saturday – a fun-filled evening of art, music, shopping, food and spirits. Explore local art galleries, take in some great local and regional talent, and savor some of the area’s best eateries.
Many places will keep their doors open from 7 to 10 p.m. for this monthly event.
Art Events Featured This Saturday:
The Artist’s Loft – will host several quilt makers who will be on hand displaying and selling homemade and vintage and contemporary quilts. Staff will be on hand to assist with class registration.
Garret Art Gallery – celebrating its 25th year in Downtown McKinney, the Garret Art Gallery will feature its Annual Miniature and Small Works Show. More than 50 new 8 x 10 and smaller paintings will be on display.
Imaging on the Square – is featuring local artist Lynda Kingsley, presenting her latest series of pastel artwork.
Laura Moore Fine Art Studio –is pleased to present Elizabeth McDonald, who will feature her latest exhibition “fresh nostalgia.” McDonald won the 2010 Young Artist Award in the 2010 BP Portrait Award Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London. She was short listed for the John Moore’s Contemporary Painting Prize 2010 and has exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. Stateside, she is the youngest artist to have work in the permanent collection of the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. McDonald’s work explores the marriage of reality and fiction and the balance between dissonance and beauty. A native of Plano, McDonald earned her BFA at the University of North Texas and her MFA at the Glasgow School of Art in the United Kingdom.
Orisons Art & Framing – will present K.D. Hafley, who will exhibit her “Natural Instinct” capturing animals. K.D. is a graduate of the School of the Fine Arts Institute in Chicago.
