Heath business owner, city board member to run for Council

(Heath) Feb. 4, 2012 – Brian Berry of Heath has announced his candidacy for Heath City Council, Place 5.

Current Place 5 Council Member and Mayor Pro Tem, Lorne Liechty, will not file for re-election in this place.

Berry currently serves on the City of Heath Special Events Board and has been actively involved in the planning and execution of annual city events such as the Heart of Heath 5k, the 4th of July Independence Day parade and Heath Holiday in the Park.

“I moved my family to Heath because there is something special about this town. I serve with the city special events because I like being a part of it all. The tradition and atmosphere that Heath brings to our families and this community is truly something to be proud of. And I want to help to build a future for our city that we’ll all be proud of and that is representative of our past,” said Berry when his filing for Council.

Berry prides himself in his faith, family values and positive attitude towards service and business.

About Brian Berry

Brian Berry grew up inGarland and graduated from South Garland High School in 1995 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Systems Management in 1999 from Texas A&M University. His business experience includes endeavors in mechanical contracting, construction management, project management, operations management, general contracting and commercial real estate.

Berry currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Med-Tech Construction, Inc. He was the only employee when he started with the company in 2003.  He purchased the company in 2006 and his small business now employs nearly 75 people in D/FW, Austin, Houston, San Antonio and Atlanta, GA.

In addition to being honored as a Dallas 100 Company in both 2007 and 2008, he recently received recognition from Texas A&M Universityby being recognized as a member of “Aggie 100”; a distinction that recognizes and celebrates the 100 fastest growing Aggie-owned or Aggie-led businesses in the world. Berry is a life member and past-president of the Dallas A&M Club,

Brian Berry and wife, Shelley, live in the Stoneleigh addition of Heath. Brian’s business is located in Heath near the Baylor Surgicare. They have 3 sons: Brady (4) and twins Breck and Brooks (2). The Berry’s are actively involved in Lake Pointe Church, where Brian serves in the aviation mission ministry. Brian has been a member of Lake Pointe for more than  25 years.
