What you need to know about 401(k) retirement plans

Luncheon to address retirement plans for sponsors, participants

Business owners and their employees won’t want to miss the next Brown Bag Lunch hosted by the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 14 at the Chamber offices, located at 697 E. Interstate 30, between Discount Tires and Lakepointe Church.

The subject will be Retirement Plans for Sponsors and Participants.

As a business owner, if your company sponsors a 401(k), are your aware of all the existing and NEW requirements necessary to keep your plan in compliance?

As an employee, what should you know if your employer provides a 401(k) for you to participate in?

This informative session will brief you on current law changes and why a participant should continue to maximize their 401(k) contributions.  Bring your questions and get them answered!

Jeff Atwell  RF, AIF, REBC, CLU, PRP, Senior Vice President – Trust Business Development, American National Bank of Texas will be the keynote speaker at this luncheon.

Atwell, has specialized and excelled in the qualified retirement plan area for over 30 years.  In 1983 he founded Atwell & Associates, a third party administration firm specializing in the establishment and maintenance of qualified retirement plans.

Atwell joined Nationwide Financial in 2001 as a Regional Vice President for the North Texas area.   He has been involved in over 2000 plans since 1978.  He joined the trust department of the American National Bank of Texas on March 1, 2010 as Senior Vice President of Trust Business Development.

His focus in the qualified plan area allows the ability to utilize the entire Internal Revenue Code in designing a retirement plan. This is valuable due to the complexity of   business structures and the need to provide retirement benefits for owners, key employees, and participants.

His knowledge and experience significantly enhances business owners in designing the proper plan to meet their company’s goals and objectives, whether the plan is intended to provide retirement benefits for employees, an income tax planning strategy for the owners, or a business exit strategy.

Additionally, Atwell’s expertise will assist business owners, who sponsor a qualified plan, in establishing and maintaining a fiduciary process.  This is very important in lieu of recent court cases, new Department of Labor regulations, and the volatile market conditions.

Atwell was instrumental in assisting ANB Trust in developing unique trust and fiduciary services that allow plan sponsors to outsource the fiduciary risk and responsibility associated with sponsoring a qualified retirement plan.

Atwell attended Texas Tech University and entered the financial services industry in 1974.  He has obtained the following professional designations over his esteemed career: Registered Fiduciary, Accredited Investment Fiduciary, Registered Employee Benefit Consultant, Chartered Life Underwriter, and Plan Sponsor Retirement.

Bring a lunch and join them!
