‘Why your phone doesn’t know the meaning of life’

During the season of Lent, Rev. Mark Irons at First Christian Church Rockwall will take worship attendees through the meaning of life in the faith.

Many people now are so attached to their cell phones that they put more and more faith in their devices.  With one new phone out on the market, you can even ask questions about anything.  One game is to ask the phone “What is the Meaning of Life?”  and the female voice answers with a humorous response.

We deserve more from that question, especially as disciples of Jesus Christ.  The sermon series is entitled, “Why Your Phone Doesn’t Know the Meaning of Life.”  Rev. Irons will look at scripture’s answers to such questions as life’s meaning, our purpose, our place in the universe, and the importance of great heroes.

The observance of Lent will begin Wednesday, Feb. 22 with a 5:45 p.m. soup supper and 6:45 p.m. Ash Wednesday service.  The first Sunday of Lent is Feb. 26 and Lent concludes Easter morning with a 7 a.m. Easter Sonrise service followed by other Easter services.

First Christian Church is located at 3375 Ridge Road, 1.4 mile south of Interstate 30 in Rockwall. Sunday morning worship services are held at 8:45 and 11 a.m., with Sunday School for all ages at 10 a.m.  An Adult Bible Study at 6 p.m. on  Sunday evenings, taught by Rev. Irons, is studying the book of Isaiah.
