This year’s honorees include in a group of 28 influential executives and entrepreneurs in the area, including executives from well-known companies such as Parkland Hospital and GameStop. Each honoree was recognized for exhibiting outstanding performances for their companies within the last year and a half.

“I am honored to be recognized for the business and reputation I have built,” said Gupta. “Watching the growth and success of this company continues to fuel the passion I have for helping property owners. I believe small businesses are the backbone of our society, stimulating job growth as well as enhancing our communities.”

The Minority Business Leader Awards are presented to influential executives who have proven track records of making a difference in the workplace and who play a strong leadership role in the community by serving industry associations and community organizations.

Gupta founded RETC in 1986 in Dallas, and through initial investments in residential and commercial property, he discovered the impact of excessive property tax expenses. He began negotiating to lower these tax burdens on properties after finding a series of inequities in the tax system. RETC has seen tremendous success since its start 25 years ago, increasing its revenue tenfold from its first year and adding new offices in Houston and Austin.

Completing an undergraduate program in mechanical engineering, Gupta has always been dedicated to the promotion and provision of a quality education, one of the many reasons why he was selected for this prestigious award. While studying at a university in Roorkee, India, he was awarded a financial scholarship based on academic merit. Fortunately, his family was financially stable enough to fund his education so he decided to donate the entire scholarship to a student who was struggling to pay for school. Today, he continues to help educational causes by working with organizations in India, such as the Pratham organization, which helps underprivileged children receive an education. In addition, he is a member of the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce (GDAACC) and the Greater Dallas Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (GDIACC).

“I believe that honest, hard work and keeping others’ interests above your own is the key to a successful business and a happy life,” said Gupta.
