The six Mayors of Rockwall County invite you to join them in recognizing National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 3 at the sixth annual Rockwall County Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast.
Mayors David Sweet (Rockwall), John Ratcliffe (Heath), Bill Broderick (Fate), Jerrell Bayley (Royse City), Gary Moody (McLendon-Chisholm) and Todd W. Gottell (Rowlett) will host the non-denominational event at The Center at City Place, 108 W. Washington Street adjacent toRockwallCity Hall.
Doors open at 7:30 a.m. for the 8 a.m. event that includes a continental breakfast.
Danny Noah, the Area Director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is the guest speaker.
The first Continental Congress called for a National Day of Prayer in 1775 as did Abraham Lincoln in 1863. Congress established National Day of Prayer as an annual event by joint resolution signed by President Truman in 1952. The law was amended and signed by President Reagan to officially designate the first Thursday in May as the official date.
All that want to pray for our nation are encouraged to do so. This is not a political event. It is designed to encourage people county-wide to join their neighbors in a call to pray for our nation as our national leaders will do inWashingtonD.C.
There is no charge for Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast but donations will be accepted.
