Town Square Buzz and MPAC to host celebration to support Hollie Cavanagh
(McKinney) May 7, 2012 – The McKinney Performing Arts Center and Town Square Buzz are once again hosting a watch party as local resident Hollie Cavanagh continues her successful run on American Idol.
The event will be held on Wednesday, May 9 at the McKinney Performing Arts Center,111 N. Tennessee St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. broadcast of the show.
Food and drinks will be available to purchase at the watch party, and free Wi-Fi is available so fans can cast their votes. Seating is limited to the first 427 in the MPAC historic courtroom theater.
Hollie is currently a top four finalist on American Idol. If she is voted through to the top three on this week’s show, American Idol will visit McKinney to document Hollie’s homecoming this weekend.
“We are encouraging McKinney residents and everyone in North Texas to vote for Hollie, not only because of her amazing talent, but also so we can show off our hometown pride and welcome her home this Saturday as a top three contestant,” said McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller.
Festivities and appearances are being planned throughout the city for Hollie if she is voted through, including a parade and a concert. Details will be available when they are confirmed at Blue Ribbon News and mckinneytexas.org and on the city’s Facebook page at facebook.com/mckinneytx.
How to vote
Voting will open at the end of the show on Wednesday. There are three ways to vote. Call the toll-free phone number assigned to Hollie provided during the show to cast your vote. Please note you cannot send a text message to the toll-free number. AT&T wireless customers can vote with a text message of the word “VOTE” to the four-digit code assigned to Hollie. Toll-free and text message voting opens at the end of the show and closes two hours after the show, and voting is unlimited.
Voters with a Facebook account can visit AmericanIdol.com to place votes. Online voting also opens after the show, and each accounts is limited to 50 votes per show.
