Cullins-Lake Pointe Elementary hires new principal

(Rockwall ISD) May 22, 2012 – Jeff Bailey, superintendent of schools for the Rockwall Independent School District, is pleased to announce that Megan Gist has been hired as principal for Doris Cullins-Lake Pointe Elementary School.  Gist is currently serving as an elementary assistant principal in Wylie ISD.

Gist holds a bachelor of arts in elementary education from Northwestern State University of Louisiana and a master’s degree in educational administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.  She has five years of administrative experience in grades K-6.

Throughout her career in education, Gist has also held positions in Waco ISD, Paris ISD, two Louisiana districts, and Rockwall ISD where she was a fifth grade social studies and language arts teacher at Dorris A. Jones Elementary School.  During her previous time as an employee for Rockwall ISD, Gist served on the staff development committee, an elementary zoning task force, and on the field based student teacher interview committee.

“Ms. Gist brings valuable experience to her new position as principal at Doris Cullins-Lake Pointe Elementary,” said Bailey.  “We are glad to welcome her back to Rockwall ISD and I know that she will continue the tradition of strong leadership for that campus.”

Gist replaces current principal Cory White who will assume his new position as director of special education this summer.
