(Rockwall) May 29, 2012 – An induction ceremony was held May 8 at the Rockwall County Library for the 2012-13 Friends of the Library Board.
Former president Leigh Plagens installed the officers using a theme of “The Hats You Wear.”
President Kathy Melston and President-Elect Beverly Stibbens head the slate.
Becky Achenbach and Robyn Liane share the Vice-President for Programs position; Jean Gustafson and Carolyn Duckworth are Second Vice-Presidents for Fundraising, and Jane Buie and Pat Calhoun, will serve as Third Vice-Presidents for Membership.
Other board members are Recording Secretary Judy Buffington, Corresponding Secretary Becky Cecil, Treasurer Susan Egan, Past President Kathleen Broze and Parliamentarian Nell Welborn. Melston also named standing committees.
Although this is the last meeting until September 11, 2012, Melston says, “Summer is a very busy time for many of the Friends members. The annual membership drive continues through May, programs and fundraising activities are being set, and the yearbook will be designed, printed and ready for distribution in September.”
Work will also continue toward the annual fundraiser, Pumpkin Patch. The steering committee, comprised of representatives from Friends and co-sponsor Council of Catholic Women, began monthly meetings in April plan the month-long October event.
Friends of the Rockwall County Library is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that works to promote the interest and welfare of the Rockwall County Library. Membership is open to any individual or business sharing this interest. Dues are available at various levels.
Meetings and programs are open to the public; however, reservations are required.
