(Rowlett) May 27, 2012 – Families filled downtown Main Street Saturday, May 26 to honor fallen military heroes at the Memorial Celebration on Main, which featured the popular “Touch A Truck” event and classic car show. Photos by Blue Ribbon News.
During the Memorial Day Commemoration at Veterans Park, Mayor Todd Gottel welcomed the crowd and the Rowlett Police and Fire Honor Guard Posted the Colors.
Councilmember Michael Gallops gave the Pledge of Allegiance. Reverand Dretha Burris of First Rowlett United Methodist Church gave the invocation.
Next up was the dedication of the gazebo by Mike Lancaster of Keep Rowlett Beautiful. Councilmember Carl Pankratz gave a proclamation and introduced keynote speaker Chris Kilgore. There was a moment of silence before the Rowlett High School Silver Rhythm Dancers gave a presentation to veterans. Cristen Gray, a City of Rowlett employee, closed out the festivities by singing Amazing Grace.
