The Royse City Chamber of Commerce 11th Annual Golf Tournament was a huge success and fun for all who participated. A group of 74 golfers enjoyed an entertaining day with friends and business colleagues while enjoying delicious food, great prizes, fabulous awards and lots of camaraderie.
The Scholarship Award recipients for 2012 are Nicole Austin and Tim Conatser. 
Every year the Royse City Chamber partners with businesses and individuals who want to contribute to improve education for our students.The money earned from this golf tournament goes toward scholarships for two graduating high school seniors.
It is our hope to grow this tournament enough to contribute even more in the future. It is truly heartwarming to see everyone working together in the spirit of giving at this event. The generosity shown is a true testimony to the character of this community.
I would personally like to thank actor Burton Gilliam for taking time out of his busy schedule to be a part of our day. He considerately brought along two autographed copies of “Blazing Saddles,” a movie in which he starred, along with two autographed stills from the movie which he auctioned off after the tournament and donated the proceeds back to the Chamber.
And of course, a very special thank you goes out to all of our considerate sponsors, donors, players, volunteers, committee, David Glenn and photographer Bob Lewis who had a hand in making this event a great success. Get ready for next year, because along with the new games we added this year, there is already another fun one in the works.
