What are you looking forward to most at college? Being able to form close friendships.

What will you miss about your hometown? I’ll miss my friends and family, mainly. I will also miss some of the activities I’ve gotten attached to, such as Robotics and Band.

How will you change the world? Positively. I hope.

What’s the best advice you’ve received and from whom? “Do or do not. There is no try.” – Yoda

Andrew Shivam Wickham, Salutatorian

Age (as of June 10): 18

City of residence: Rockwall

University: University of Texas at Austin

Intended major: Computer Science

What are you looking forward to most at college? I look forward to having the freedom to create new friendships and my own schedule of classes and other activities.

What will you miss about your hometown? I will miss my family, band, robotics team, and friends that are going to other schools.

How will you change the world? Technologically.

What’s the best advice you’ve received and from whom? My dad once told me not to worry about how people might view me and to let my true self shine. Chances are, he said, I’d find others who shared my passions and enjoyed my personality. Sure enough, I soon had a new girlfriend who loved my nerdiness and became a well-liked “software guru” on the RHS FIRST Robotics Team.

Rockwall-Heath High School

Jeff Bookhout, Valedictorian, Rockwall-Heath High School

Jefferson Stewart Bookhout, Valedictorian

University: Texas A&M University, College Station; WHOOP GIG EM!!!

What are you looking forward to most at college? I am looking forward to be a part of the tradition and culture within Texas A&M! I cannot wait to be in the Fightin’ Class of 2016, surrounded by fellow, friendly Aggies!

What will you miss about your hometown? I want to say Chiloso’s great food, but I’m going to miss my family the most.

How will you change the world? Whoa, change the world? That’s a lot of pressure! I think I would work to bring peace to the world where peace is needed and possible.

What’s the best advice you’ve received and from whom? “Act your age, not your shoe size.” –Jimbo Bookhout, my dad

J. Blake Dwyer, Salutatorian

Blake Dwyer, Salutatorian, Rockwall-Heath High School

Age: 18

City of residence: Rockwall

University:  Duke University in Durham, NC

Intended major:  Economics

What are you looking forward to most at college? I am really looking forward to the opportunities to explore academically. In high school, the schedule and classes one takes are very rigid. I am excited to have more freedom when choosing classes.

What will you miss most about your hometown? Besides my family and friends, I will miss Chiloso Mexican Bistro the most. It has been a staple in my life and it will be the first thing I do upon each return to Rockwall.

How will you change the world? I plan on changing the world by fixing our economy, maybe as secretary of the treasury when Jacob Glastad wins presidency.

What’s the best advice you received and from whom? The best advice I received was from my mom when she told me to work my very hardest because I never want to look back and think “What if?”
