YMCA honors Lake Highlands branch Father of the Year
'2012 Father of the Year' Chris Madden and family.

(Lake Highlands) Louis Smart Dodd created Father’s Day in its present form at a meeting at the Spokane Washington YMCA in 1909.  The YMCA and the Spokane Minister’s Alliance swiftly endorsed the idea and helped it spread, holding the first ever Father’s Day celebration on June 10, 1910.

In celebration of Father’s Day, the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas honored Chris Madden as the Lake Highlands branch “2012 Father of the Year”.

While also participating on the Lake Highlands YMCA Board of Management and Executive Board, Chris is actively involved serving in several leadership roles with his son and daughters in the Adventure Guide and Princess Program.  Through these leadership positions, Chris passionately emphasizes the importance of how this program positively affects the relationship between fathers and children.  He is always the first to volunteer and goes over and beyond the call of duty to enhance this experience.

A heartfelt thank you and congratulations to Chris for his contributions to the Lake Highlands Family YMCA as a community leader and for being an exemplary Father of the Year!
