Reduced adoption fees, low-cost microchip clinic

(Rowlett) August 2, 2012 –  The City of Rowlett Animal Shelter and Friends of Rowlett Animals  invite everyone to help make a difference in the lives of homeless pets.

Sweet Molly is seeking super family.

In their efforts to reduce the homeless pet population, FRAs will host an “Empty the Shelter” Adoptathon from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, August 11 at the Rowlett Animal Shelter, 4402 Industrial Street, 75088.

Little Prince is longing to be loved.

FRAs and local businesses are sponsoring pets to make all other adoption fees just $25 or just $5 for seniors!  This adoption fee includes spay/neuter and immunizations.

Also a low-cost ($20 cash only) microchip clinic will be offered from 2 to 4 pm for all area pets (until supplies run out).

Between four and five million puppies, kittens, dogs and cats are destroyed each year nationwide.  Their only crime?  Being born.  In Rowlett alone, more than 2000 pets were picked up by Rowlett Animal Control last year.  Only 500 were returned to owners; 771 were adopted or sent to other shelters and rescue groups.  The remaining pets, numbering about 700, were destroyed.

Middle-aged Morris has much to offer.
