(Rockwall ISD) October 11, 2012 – Dorris A. Jones Elementary is excited to be chosen to partner with United Way and the Cooper Institute in their Healthy Zone School Program.
This program gives schools resources to engage teachers, students, parents, and the broader community in a joint effort to improve the health of their communities.
Jones will receive $1500 in physical education supplies, $1500 toward implementing health and fitness promotions and activities, a Flip Video Camera, Signage, t-shirts, and support from these two organizations.
Three teachers received valuable training which will be shared with all staff and students about the prevention of childhood obesity.
This is the perfect year for this to happen as our Students Serving Others (SSO) focus is wellness!
